Study
Dr. Medele began his medical studies at Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich in 1986. Apart from Munich, he studied at Universidad Nacional Autóma de México in Mexico City for one year. In 1992, he completed his studies in Munich, passing the 3rd medical state examination. In his dissertation at Ludwig-Maximilians University (Prof. Dr. P. Habermeyer and Prof. Dr. E. Euler) he investigated the clinical outcome after conservative and surgical treatment of scapula fractures.
Clinical career
After completing his studies, Dr. Medele was employed as Junior Doctor at the renowned Neurosurgery Clinic of the Ludwig-Maximilians University Clinics at Großhadern in 1993. As of 1995, he was trained there to become a neurosurgeon under the direction of Prof. Dr. H.J. Reulen, successfully completing his training by his approval as Specialist for Neurosurgery by the Bavarian Chamber of Physicians in 2001.
In the same year, Prof. Dr. A. Müller appointed him Leading Senior Physician at the Barmherzige Brüder Clinics in Regensburg. That modern academic teaching hospital has more than 800 beds and operates a special spine centre. From 2001 to 2004, Dr. Medele worked here as Leading Senior Physician and trained physicians and students himself as well.
In 2004, he left the clinic, founding his own practice for specialised neurosurgery in Munich. In 2006, together with Dr. Ständer, he founded the Spine Centre at Stiglmaierplatz which he has since headed as Director and General Manager.
In 2010, Dr. Medele also became Chief Physician together with Dr. Ständer at the Department for Neurosurgery of the ATOS Clinic.

Coefficients of performance
At the Spine Centre at Stiglmaierplatz, founded by Dr. Medele and Dr. Ständer in 2006, about 10,000 outpatient cases are treated per year. Annually, about 1,000 in-patients are treated using open surgical procedures.
