Study

Dr. Ständer began his medical studies at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg in 1991, where he passed the preliminary medical examination in 1993 and the 1st medical state examination in 1994. After that he spent two practial semesters in Peru and at Universidad de Quito in Ecuador.

To continue his clinical studies, he changed to the University of Tübingen in 1995, where he passed the 2nd medical state examination in 1997. Then he continued his medical training at Tulane University of New Orleans, U.S.A., and finished his medical studies by passing the 3rd medical state examination at Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich in 1999.

During 1996 and 1997, Dr. Ständer worked on his medical doctorate at the Neuro-Oncological Lab of the Neurological University Clinic Tübingen under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dichgans (tutor: Associated Professor Dr. Weller); the topic was: "Dekorin gene transfer: a new apporach in immunotherapy of malign gliomae“

  • 10/1999 - 12/2000 Junior Doctor at the Neurosurgery Clinic, Großhadern Clinics, LMU Munich, Medical Director: Prof. Dr. H.J. Reulen
  • 01/2001 - 05/2006 Specialist training at the Neurosurgery Clinic, Großhadern Clinics, LMU Munich, Medical Director: Prof. Dr. J.C. Tonn (approval as Specialist for Neurosurgery by the Bavarian Chamber of Physicians on 22/03/2006)
  • as of 06/2006 Together with Dr. Medele, founding and development of the Spine Centre at Stiglmaierplatz, Munich, with large outpatient department and neurosurgical care for several large clinics in Munich
  • 07/2010 Appointed Chief Physician for Neurosurgery at the ATOS Clinic together with Dr. Medele

Coefficients of performance

At the Spine Centre at Stiglmaierplatz, founded by Dr. Medele and Dr. Ständer in 2006, about 10,000 outpatient cases are treated per year. Annually, about 1,000 in-patients are treated using open surgical procedures.
